National Hot Toddy Day?!

Ok so I know this is random, but because I am a newbie (as of two years now..) to this great innovation, I thought it was about finally time I shared it with those of you (maybe a few maybe more) that still haven't heard of this wonderful innovation: Hot Toddy!  Maybe your grandmother refereed to it, maybe not? But I will say after my first "real" winter in the north I came to love these drinks, especially when you got that annoying scratchy throat or annoying cold that wouldn't go away!

and whats even more fun about TODAY is that it is actually  

NATIONAL HOT TODDY DAY! (who would'va thought..) 

it does seem like everything has their own day now, but even more reason to try one of these drinks out... but I will say normally I recommend waiting until you feel slightly under the weather or very chilled!

There are a few "recipes" for this drink, the most standard is: 

Hot Toddy
½ shot Bourbon
1 tbsp honey
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 cup hot water

I have also switched this up a little by following this recipe:

1 shot of Bourbon (preferably Makers)

Peppermint Tea

lemons 

(with or without, depends on if I have them in the fridge)

and for those who don't believe me that is actually a national day well Here, thanks Local 10!

NEW Year.. NEW name..MORE meaning

After much thought, and maybe too much benadryl (just kidding!).. I have decided to change Simple Life a bit, now don't you worry it will still be run by the one and only me, myself..but through the past few years I have decided to 

re-focus my blog!  

Partially because of my love for style, fashion and pretty things, which is why its named STYLE, but more importantly because I want to refocus this as an outlet for GIVING, specifically giving to our community, our country and our world.  

I want to make a promise to at least weekly highlight either a charity, organization or current event that I feel as important to give back to or at least recognize!  I am open for recommendations and would love to highlight any of those my readers would like to share!  I hope that this new focus will open up all of us, while still being able to reflect my style and share all my quirks and un-reasonable fashion ideas!

So I thank you all for your support and would love feedback!  Here is to a terrific 2012, full of GIVING & great STYLE!

New Year..new styles!

Ok so maybe not completely new, but being under the weather since the new year has arrived, I do apologize for my lack of posts.. But due to the crazy cold weather I thought everyone could always use some basic layering inspiration! Cold weather doesn't mean it lacks in style, thanks to many fun layering options everyone can still be ultra stylish and warm without looking like a snowman!

Love the sleek leather pants matched with soft easy hair and a beautiful fur coat, even though fur and leather seem like a lot, if you play everything else down and keep within the same color palate you'll be able to pull it all off, without necessarily turning every head (although who doesn't want that!)

LC looks super stylish while staying warm with an extra thick scarf, you just cant go wrong with a good scarf..you'll see how many more I have below!

More great scarves, and even more lovely hair dos!  I actually wore the top knot for my NYE festivities, pics later! and I secretly have always wanted a pixy cut!  Love both of these looks, both dressed up and down!

Yellow and Leather and the perfect shades! This is a perfect way to mix the last days of winter (please come sooner than later) with the first touches of spring!

Many layers with sleek pants and touch of leopard! Perfect way to stay warm and edgy!

Hope everyone is having a better start to their new year than me.. but here is too getting better and to a lovely weekend spent with lots of hot cocoa and movies!

Lights..the great debate!

Hope you all had a VERY MERRY Christmas!  Part of me cannot believe this special day has already come and gone, but thankfully with still a week off from work and lots of fun friends and out of town family still ahead of me I am still fully in the Holiday spirit, not to mention an upcoming celebration of a new year and a Birthday too!

Due to the fact my life made it one of their missions over the last few days I have seen more Christmas lights this year than I have in quite some time, and because of this I would like to ponder a question.. Do you do colored lights or just white, or do you do the mix?

and have any of you ever seen a christmas light show sync'd to music?  I saw a house in South FL this year which completely blew me away!!
