Thankful!

Welcome back all my lovely readers! Sorry for long break, but I thoroughly enjoyed not spending any time in front of a computer for almost an entire week..but I am now ready as ever to come back with all kinds of great holiday recipes, ideas and fashions, so get ready to fully embrace these next few weeks with Amy's Simple Life, Holiday Special!!

Before completely jumping into the Christmas spirit I wanted to give much thanks to all the wonderful people and things in my life

By being home for the past week I was quickly reminded of all the many blessings I have in my life, I am so thankful and appreciative of my family!  They are honestly the most important people in my life and I couldn't imagine a single day without them!  I was very lucky to see my newly-wed sister and her husband and their new place in South Florida!  We had a wonderful time with both sides of the family and of course ate wayy too much!

The whole family at the Rehearsal!

I was also greeted by the most amazing weather, it was unusually warm (even for Florida) the entire time I was home, definitely a nice change from our chillier temperatures up here!

I am also very grateful and thankful for such amazing friends!! Many of us are spread throughout the country, which can be tough at times but when we do get to see eachother and reconnect it always seems as no time in the world has passed, I hate to brag but I do honestly feel like I am the luckiest girl to have the absolute best friends in the world!! Thank you to each and everyone of you for being in my life!

At this very thankful and reflective time of year I was able to sit back and think of all those more everyday things that we let pass us by.. I am truly thankful for a great job, that lets me have my independence, I am thankful for a great place to live, a great and always expanding closet :) that allows me to fully express myself, I am thankfully to have my health, even though I went threw some harder times with injuries earlier this year I am very thankfully to be back to running, and those are just a few, but I think what I learned the most during this holiday was to be thankful for the un-chaotic life I am currently living, its ok to just be normal!! I also am very thankful for the future, and to have so many opportunities and possibilities that are out there for me!

So I do hope all of you were also able to sit back, relax and enjoy your Thanksgiving and truly cherish all those people and things in your life!

May you all be thankful throughout the entire holiday season, and remember the true meanings of this season!

Favorite Traditions!

So it once again is that most lovely, and edible time of year again!  And personally my whole take on it, is why only celebrate this grand holiday once..right?!

A few years ago while in college I came up with the idea of inviting some of my closest friends together and having a Thanksgiving potluck, as the host I would (or my boyfriend at the time) would do the turkey and then everyone else brings their favorite sides, desserts and other goodies that they adore during this festive time!

How freaking adorable is this!
It was some of the most memorable and fun times!! I mean who doesn't love stuffing themselves with great food and company, and the best part is we would always do it the week before, so we would be ready to go for round two on the actual Turkey Day!

Once I started my "adult-life" up here and lived on my own I knew I wanted to continue the tradition, so with some hesitation I confounded in a few good friends and brought up the idea, although I knew if I were to be the host this time around I myself would have to prepare the bird...

Thankfully with the help of many phone calls into my mom, I was able to prepare my first bird!  I won't say it was the most pleasant experience but when it came out perfectly and everyone was stuffing their face I felt a huge since of accomplishment!

Hoping my bird comes out just as nice!

So as this most lovely time of year comes again, and we are set for our annual Pre-Thanksgiving potluck on Saturday I am prepared and ready for round two with the bird!  This year with the vast amount of guests I am once again trying something new..buy preparing a turkey that is over 20 pounds.. I will be sure to give you a full run down on how it turns out next Monday, but please wish me luck!!

So for now, I hope everyone is thoroughly enjoying the beginnings of the holiday season and if you dare, I dare you to go out and tackle the preparation of a turkey...or at least maybe a pumpkin pie!

Happy Eating!

What to Wear Wednesday (WTWW)

So apologize for the later posts all week, but work has been a little nuts, but do not fret I come bearing awesome and very fashionable advice on this slightly cooler but sunny Wednesday afternoon!

May i say SEQUINS! Ok so those of you whom have been following me for the last few months before the WTWW started know that I have experimented and posted with sequins before.. so why post again, well its because they are quite possibly the hottest most versatile trend of this upcoming holiday season!

I would dare to say that many (if not all) of you will be wearing or accessorizing with some sort of sequins during this holiday season, and why not, its festive, fun and flirty!

Here are a few of my favorite pieces!

I think EVERY it-celebrity and even those not so "it" are wearing sequins! And as you can see even by wearing the full sequin dress, you can still find one perfect for your own style!
So this is really where my own personal obsession has begun, with a mini black sequin skirt!  I honestly didnt take it off in NYC, and even though at first you think it may be a little over the top, by wearing a more casual looser top and tights you can style it up or down!

Loving the colorful ones as well!

Absolutely obsessed with this  style, see how you can definitely dress down sequins and adding a little boyish flare! Who would of ever thought plaid and sequins..but honestly how cute!

And for those whom are quite sure they want to try the boldness of the dress, skirt or shorts can always start with a simple headband!  Love the hippy vibe

Ok so I will be the first to admit the shoes may be a little much, but they would for sure make a statement, and paired with a more low-key LBD they are perfection!

More fabulous runway shots!
And for one last finishing piece, if your not so fond of the all sparkle pumps, give a sparkly clutch a try paired once again with your favorite LBD!

Well hope this all brought a little more sparkle to your day (ok so corny, but had to say it!)

Happy Wednesday my loves!
And definitely give the sequins a try, oh so fabulous for this holiday season!

NYE dress search begins..Asos!

Ok so thanks to my recent purchase of People Style Watch, I was introduced to an amazing online store, it actually is from London, but they do free shipping both ways to US! even more amazing right!?

Anyways so after searching for the one dress I saw in the magazine and NOT finding it I was slightly sadden until I came across the rest of their amazing selection, and pretty much everything is VERY reasonable!

Here are a few of my favorites! I have a feeling I will be searching for awhile, considering not only is it for New Year's Eve and I will be in NYC, but it is also my birthday!! so bring it on fabulous dresses, the hardest part will be only buying one!

Of course I adore anything sequins!

Don't know if you can actually see the embellishments on the sleeves but love this

Lace, umm yes! and don't worry its not ALL black! Although NYC and NYE I think I may have to do black..but we'll see...

The dress that I first spotted in the magazine was a lot like this one, with the feathers I love how unique it is..although pure white in crowded NYC bars..maybe not?!

And finally sequins again, you can't see but this dress have a very sexy cut-out in the back..love it!

Please do yourself a favor and check out asos.com promise you will find something you love!
Well that's all for now, stay tuned for more possibilities, plus I would honestly love your opinions, don't think I will be able to make this decision on my own!!

Big City, Big Lights..NYC

So this past weekend, I was thrilled to travel to one of my most favorite places in the world NYC!  Being so close and having one of my best friend's live up there I have been frequently making the easy bus ride up there!

Weather was beyond perfect, since when is it sunny and in the mid-60s in NYC, in the middle of November!  My friend lives on the lower east side, right by the river love the neighborhood and now that I've been a few times definitely feels very familiar which is a lot to say in such a big city!

So sadly I was totally lame and took all of one picture the entire weekend, and that one picture isn't even worthy of this post (aka it was of a black squirrel, which mind you was awesome..but)
Instead I have found some awesome pictures of some of the things I did (thanks to google images!)

Beautiful, and may I say quite unforgettable NYC Skyline!

Brooklyn, actually finally went there for my first time, ended up venturing that way on Friday night!  Found a great inside/ outside bar (and with the awesome weather could be both inside & out)

Also best part is that it had an amazing  Taco Truck right in the back!

We actually didn't make it to Times Square, but I've been many of times! But love the photo! Definitely the sole of that city!

Sarabeth, actually another spot I didn't actually go this time, but I couldn't find a picture of the Belgium Brunch place we stopped at on Saturday, it was in the lower east side, right by where we were staying, so amazing!

Got their Benedict, and it was served with a small salad, and MASHED Potatoes!! (ya i was in love!)

And finally on our last stop on Sunday we ended up getting some NY bagels! The place was packed, but we were wise and just grab the bagels to go and made our own sandwiches from home! (their everything is to die for!)
Hope you all had a great weekend! I've got a LONG week ahead of myself, but am already looking forward to this weekend..(i'll tell you all more soon)
