Rainy Days!

Wow what a rainy gloomy day!  Although I am always a fan of a new month, I think part of it is the excitement I have for all the possibilities for the next month, but for some reason I am in a slight stage of shock on this last day of September, and I think Mother Earth may be agreeing! We have had EXTREME rain since late last night and there has been flash flooding and possibilities of tornado's!

But like they say, when God gives you lemons make lemonade I am trying to make the best of this yucky gloomy weather, I am a true believer in a line-up of classic movies and pjs on rainy days but work was calling and I trucked it in.  So instead of this being a gloomy, rainy post I thought I would throw out some fun ideas to spruce up your rain gear..believe it or not there's tons of great options!

ps. I am also in desperate need of some new rain boots, and would love to get some advice from my readers about which ones they would recommend! I love the classic Hunters, but want to make sure they are worth the splurge!  Let me know what ya'll think!

1) The classics, I think if I end up going with Hunters, I want either the original Hunter Green (seen below) or the red, because how fun would that be!

2) And you wonder why I am obsessed with Hunters, hello gorgeous celebrities rockin these boots!

 3) This can easily show, how I am slightly overwhelmed with the current selection of rain boots that are out on the market!  I will say I loved my old JCrew ones but have realized I need some that will be more durable (preferably that can handle both rain. sleet and snow..if necessary) and ones that are probably just one color, my old ones were super cute but a little over the top for my current style (no more pink and blue anchors)

So now for some other fun rain gear to cheer up all those gloomy days!

Gotta love a heart filled rain jacket, this one by Marc Jacobs, is so fun and bright, definitely cannot be gloomy if you have this jacket on!

Just had to included these fun little guys!! How adorable! They are definitely ready for whatever Mother Nature has to bring!

Now for Umbrellas! There are soo many fun, stylish and verstaile umbrellas out there these days!  See from the quick selection below, there's no need to settle on the cheapo- freebie umbrella that you got at your last business conference!  Add some style and fun to your rain day gear by adding a fun umbrella!

One of my new favorite umbrella styles is this type below!  Although its clear I love the overall protection you get from it! Definitely no wet head under this brella!

And of course one cannot complete a rainy day blog post without everyone's favorite! The classic Disney Yellow poncho!  When all else fails and your stuck at the theme park with your 20+ members of your extended family, and it starts to down pour, you can always run into the closest over-priced tourist spot and grab one!

See one can find happiness in the most gloomy days!!

What to Wear Wednesday!

Colors of Fall! Primarily Rich Purple!

So I will be the first to say that pretty much my entire life (with the exception of my Beauty and the Beast obsession in 3rd grade) I have NOT been a fan of purple..not that I ever hated the color it just never was right for me..

Well this all changed in the last few months before even reading about the new 2010 Fall Trendy colors, when I started being attracted to the more rich/ dark purples.. my first purchase of this color actually came last year, when I bought an all purple New Years dress!  It was a fun dress to wear for the evening, but I haven't really found another occasion to wear it again... However with its long sleeves I am hopefully to find a few excuses come this fall!

My next experiment with this new color was in the style of a blouse that slightly resembled a peacock.  (Not with feathers, just the colors)  Despite my first purchase that has had little wear, this blouse has seen quite a few occasions matched with black pencil skirts and suits. I've enjoyed how the colors "spice" up the boring black suits that I am sometimes subject to wear during office hours.

More recently, now that I have become more comfortable with the color and see it almost everywhere in the stores, I have picked up a few more items. Such as fall dresses that have a combination of the purple with other darker and richer colors, I love that with most of these items I can choose to match it with either dark brown or black!

I really enjoy the variety presented by Chicago Fashion here, that shows the diversity of this color! See everyone really can find a "shade" of this rich color that is right for them!

So there it is my fellow followers! Hope you will give this fall festive color a try! I definitely think you will find it to be a fun new (or to some old) color to enjoy for the next few months!

By the way it was a brisk 62 degrees this morning! Although were suppose to have rain this afternoon and tomorrow, the weekend is suppose to be cool, brisk and sunny! Cannot wait!

It's coming along..the new Apartment!

Ok so I think it's about time for a new post on how the new apartment decor is coming along!

So the most exciting news, is that we finally just got a dining room table! After fuirst moving in, we were unsure if we wanted to get a table and chairs or just use the kitchen bar area with bar stools?  I love the idea of the bar stools and we actually did find some cute ones, but later decided with the extra space we have in the "living" area we definitely had room for a full table and chairs!

After a few weeks of searching, I found a great set off of none other than CraigsList!  I had actually never bought anything off there but had heard both the good and bad about it.. thankfully I spotted this set within hours of the girls posting and followed up with them immediately.  After a few detailed email correspondence I was happily pleased and realized to find that they seemed VERY normal and lived in a great part of town (aka: not a skecthy home in the middle of nowhere)

So yesterday the roommate and her boyfriend and I took 2 cars and ventured over there, we had made a decision if the furniture didn't look like that, which was posted we would simply say thanks and leave but to our pleasant surprise it turned out to be perfect!  Plus we got a fantastic deal.  The table does have a few minor scratches but for the price we couldn't beat the deal!

Thanks to the roomies, friend we also recieved our first house/ apartment warming gift/ fall decoration!  How adorable are these candles! Plus they go perfect with the dark wood table!

I also have been working on my own room, I am still in search for a fun shelfing device, I have realized that although my new closet is amazing, after having two walk-ins I was able to store/ hide many things that weren't exactly clothing.. so I will need to find a cute desk or some sort of shelfing dresser for my side wall.
But I did find something I have been wanting for many years, I had seen a few DIY hanging jewelry ideas but couldn't decide on a specific one, plus the idea of having to wait to find the perfect door knobs and then installing them all seemed like another "project that would never be completed".

So when I spotted this fun little charm of decor at Urban Outiftters I quickly grabbed it.  I could use a few more hanging knobs for both my necklaces and earrings but I have been able to fit quite a few things on it.  It also has been a great way for me to finally start wearing "different" jewelry again, I dont know about you but I feel like sometimes I can get into such a rut with wearing the exact same pieces everyday.

I also am very pleased to let you all know, that I did do a little DIY project with my balcony furniture!  I have been looking for several bistro sets since I moved into the new pad. Although I did find a few sets I liked, I wasn't overly excited about spending that sort of money on something that may not last very long especially with our upcoming winter.. So after a little "personal" fight with myself I decided to save the money and trek to Wally world! There I got some fold-able steel chairs and a plastic fold-able table.  To make it not look as cheap I spray painted them with a texture spray paint, and surprisingly it all looks quite nice!  I also got 2 removable cushions for the chairs, in order to make them slightly more comfortable!

So the last item still needed for the apartment is a coffee table with our modern white couches we are still on the hunt for a nice one that would look good with the couches..hopefully we can find one soon! but for now the plastic bins work!!

Happy Monday everyone!

It is rainy and gross here today, wishing I was still in bed...

Boots..boots..and more boots!

Boots! As I said yesterday, I am on a desperate search for the perfect fall brown boot, but with this season's enormous variety of styles I am stuck on which one would be perfect for me!

Last year I opted to splurge on a good flat knee high black boot from NineWest! I seriously lived in them from say mid-October through march! Thankfully they are still manageable to wear and U think I can get another good season out of them! I also did get a great brown boot last year but it was from target (which I adore) but the quality wasn't exactly up there and although they still look good and I am sure I will wear them this fall I need a replacement. They are also a flat boot.

So now here is my dilemma, I know I will first be going for a new brown boot, I did get an incredible new pair of camel colored ankle heeled boots a few weeks ago, which I posted in my shoe closet post. But NOW I need to decide on the brown boot!

I want a high at least to the knee boot, not sure if I want a heel or not..? And I am curious to see how the over the knee boot looks and wears too?

Here are a few that I have been admiring...

From Modcloth! aka one of my absolute favorite online store..

Lace Up Boot! (Harney Peak Boot)
I am really diggin the more manly, lace up almost play on the construction boot.. not sure if I could actually pull it off and I think it would only really look good for certain looks..?

But I do like!

Riding Boot (Platte Boot)
I love the riding boot style! Al;though I am not a rider, and actually sadly have never "really" riden a horse, unless the pony at the fair counts! :)
Anyways these are a little higher, possibly above the knee style..I do like, I will probably need to try a few above the knee styles before I know if I really like them or not..

Frye, tall brown boot
I was recently introduced to Frye boots, beautifully made boots!
Very simple, but a little rug-id which I like!

Heeled classic Brown Boot, from Banana Republic, of course!
I adore how polished and classic these boots are! I definitely think these would look fantastic with a great tweed pencil skirt and tights!

Ok so those are some of my favorites!! Now its your turn, because I desperately need some help!  What are you wearing this season??

What to Wear Wednesday!

Classics!

So I know I usually use this as my trendy..what to wear, if you dare segment of the week, but today has found me in a more subdued stage and I am really feeling the Classics!

For once I also am taking my own advice on this Wednesday and wearing the basic classics that EVERYONE should own and love! (in my opinion) The amazing yet simple white button down and a great pair of jeans! I dressed mine up a little with some fun chunky jewelry and my leopard flats!

Fun little abstract look, on my current outfit!

My "vegan" flats thanks to ModCloth! Yes they are actually Vegan.don't really understand it..but they are super cute and comfy and I got them for only $30!

Here is another great shot of the beautiful Ali Larter's Classic Chic Look!

Especially with the approaching fall upon us all, and the trend of the Classic Chic I will be fully incorporating my love of the classics all season long! But I do have to say I highly recommend adding your own slight touches of flair!

Here's a few options to spice up the classics! Thanks to InStyle!

I am definitely a fan of the scarf and a large fun colored tote! Its an easy fix to change up and add some color!

Also, I am desperately on the hunt for the perfect new brown tall boot! There are soo many options..I think I will have to post some of my favorites later this week and take a poll!

Hope everyone is having a Wonderful Wednesday and Have fun playing it safe with the classics as well as throwing in those unexpected colors and fun trends with accessories!

to bang, or not to bang?

Ok, so the day has finally come (well it's actually tomorrow) but I have finally given in..that is to trying a new hair stylist! After 5 plus years of always going to the same guy (in Orlando) I have finally realized that I can no longer wait and only have my hair cut like twice a year, and/or is it except-able to plan entire visits home just for that sole reason..

So after many of months of delay and or shall I also say denial, I gave in and made an appointment! I am excited to meet with someone new, and it was a recommendation from a very good friend so I am not completely going out on a limb

Now that I have given in, I know have a new obstacle to conquer.. that is what I shall do with my hair, I love that I finally have some good length and although it definitely need s trim that is as far as I want to go with the length..and as for the color..right now I have decided I am liking my natural (aka..its cheap) so if I am not willing to change the length and am too cheap for the color the only thing that really leaves me to do is... Bangs!

I know I'm sure some of you are screeching with dislike..but I gotta make some kind of change..

So here are a few looks I have pulled..let me know what you all think!

1) full longer bang- although this one seems like it may be VERY annoying??

2) A little more of a side- dominant bang

3) Love hers, but dont know if mine would look this polished..I mean its Reese!

4) Non- celebrity, but the first picture I saw with the bangs that I loved!

So there it is..let me know if anyone out there has any advice I could really use some..esp before 6pm tomorrow!!

Hope you all had a great weekend! I did a little DIY furniture and apartment work this weekend so I'll try to get some pictures to show you soon!
