Fit Friday!

So because it is a NEW YEAR and as you all know I am definitely into making AND keeping my resolutions I wanted to also hopefully help each of you live a healthier and happier life!  For me a very LARGE part of that is being and staying FIT!  So as you can see I am introducing my newest weekly theme day: FIT FRIDAYS!



This weekly Friday post will include all sorts of healthy life-style tips, incorporating diets & nutrition, workouts, and new trends that..well we can all make our own opinions on!  I am so excited to launch this new idea and I hope you all can not only learn and benefit from it but also ENJOY it!



So to start things off in the right foot.. (haha) I wanted to start by giving some tips for MOTIVATION! we all know that without motivation one can never achieve their goals, and to find motivation to get and stay fit may be some of the hardest out there!

Here are a few steps (thanks to Women's Health magazine) that I thought could really do the trick to motivate each of you this coming year!


1.  Make a Commitment Contract
whether it is a pack to your self by saying- run 30 minutes 4 times a week for one month and then I can buy myself that Marc Jacobs bag I've been wanting..
or make a contract with a friend, that way not only do you have it down on paper you also have made that contract to another human being



2. Line up reinforcements
This goes along with above, if you have shared your goal of getting fit with another friend, coworker or spouse then you will have that support behind you..however make sure you share this with people that will support and push you the RIGHT way (try not to share it with your only-bar and HH friends whom may try to temp you to skip out all the time)

3. Make it Personal
In order to set a goal AND accomplish that goal it must be personal, you must have a personal reason for reaching this goal.  Honestly if you REALLY cant think of one, just think of this, by getting fit now (especially those of us whom are in our 20s and 30s) this will help you lead a life of healthy-lifestyle and even better your future families will lead a healthier lifestyle as well by you being their leader!  And then those whom are older, this can help you be stronger and live a longer fuller life! That in it self should be motivation!




4. Mix it Up
No one can ever just do one fitness routine forever, so even if you hate running and will only do elliptical try going on a hike, or for all those runners whom swear only by the trails try out a yoga class, your body is NOT one dimensional and neither should your workout.  And by trying new things, the added motivation will keep you going for a much longer period of time!  Sure the month of January while those holiday pounds are shredding and the New Year's resolutions are still in the front of your mind, you can stay on the treadmill forever..but by May that will NOT be the case! take chances, switch it up!

Hope you all are as excited as I am and you all got a little more motivated to start 2011 in a very "Fitting" way!
